515C NETWARE V3.11: ADVANCED SYSTEM MANAGER
This content of this computer-based training (CBT) course directly
correlates with the 515 NetWare v3.11: Advanced System Manager
instructor-led course. It teaches experienced system managers the
skills needed to monitor and maintain a NetWare v3.11 network. It
does not cover programming or hardware issues.
This course covers high-level system management features of
NetWare. Memory management procedures are discussed, and portions
of the MONITOR utility and selected SET command parameters are
used to teach students how to analyze and improve network
performance. Participants learn advanced printing setup and how to
customize printing by using the PRINTCON and PRINTDEF utilities.
They also learn appropriate procedures to maintain the system and
to prevent problems using recommended backup strategies, including
SBACKUP.
The course presents information about multiple protocol support
and identifies advantages of and considerations for using Remote
Management and NetWare Name Service. The course also teaches
system management using NetWare utilities.
Participants interested in installation and upgrade, diagnostics,
and troubleshooting should attend course 701 NetWare Service and
Support.

Audience: Experienced system managers who have worked extensively
with NetWare v3.1x. This CBT course greatly enhances training
opportunities for those who want self-paced or individualized
instruction.
Prerequisites: Completion of course 505 NetWare v3.11: System
Manager or equivalent.
Required Equipment: The following configurations support the
installation and execution of the CBT course:
Ñ IBM PC (or fully compatible) 386 class system
Ñ Microsoft Windows 3.0 or above
Ñ Microsoft-compatible mouse
Ñ DOS 3.1 or above
Ñ 4MB memory
Ñ 5.25-inch or 3.5-inch high-density diskette drive
Ñ VGA graphics adapter and monitor
Ñ 8 to 20MB storage on a hard disk or file server (20MB are
required to load the entire course; modules can be loaded
individually.)
