  1. 515C NETWARE V3.11: ADVANCED SYSTEM MANAGER

  3. This content of this computer-based training (CBT) course directly 
  4. correlates with the 515 NetWare v3.11: Advanced System Manager 
  5. instructor-led course. It teaches experienced system managers the 
  6. skills needed to monitor and maintain a NetWare v3.11 network. It 
  7. does not cover programming or hardware issues.
  8.  
  9. This course covers high-level system management features of 
  10. NetWare. Memory management procedures are discussed, and portions 
  11. of the MONITOR utility and selected SET command parameters are 
  12. used to teach students how to analyze and improve network 
  13. performance. Participants learn advanced printing setup and how to 
  14. customize printing by using the PRINTCON and PRINTDEF utilities. 
  15. They also learn appropriate procedures to maintain the system and 
  16. to prevent problems using recommended backup strategies, including 
  17. SBACKUP.

  19. The course presents information about multiple protocol support 
  20. and identifies advantages of and considerations for using Remote 
  21. Management and NetWare Name Service. The course also teaches 
  22. system management using NetWare utilities.

  24. Participants interested in installation and upgrade, diagnostics, 
  25. and troubleshooting should attend course 701 NetWare Service and 
  26. Support.

  44. Prerequisites: Completion of course 505 NetWare v3.11: System 
  45. Manager or equivalent.

  47. Required Equipment: The following configurations support the 
  48. installation and execution of the CBT course:
  49. Ñ IBM PC (or fully compatible) 386 class system
  50. Ñ Microsoft Windows 3.0 or above
  51. Ñ Microsoft-compatible mouse
  52. Ñ DOS 3.1 or above
  53. Ñ 4MB memory
  54. Ñ 5.25-inch or 3.5-inch high-density diskette drive
  55. Ñ VGA graphics adapter and monitor
  56. Ñ 8 to 20MB storage on a hard disk or file server (20MB are 
  57. required to load the entire course; modules can be loaded 
  58. individually.)
